Free axially symmetric vibrations of a thin elastic shell of revolution are considered for arbitrary boundary conditions on the shell edges. The authors derive a formula for the number \(n(\omega)\) of frequencies that are lower than a given frequency \(\omega\) assuming that \(\omega\) lies to the right of the continuous spectrum of membrane problem. This sufficiently accurate formula allows to control the computations in the zone of highest spectral density.
