Various variants of Newton's method are applied to numerical solution of Navier-Stokes equations to simulate unsteady separated flows. To improve convergence, the authors also use different modifications of the Newton-Raphson method. The results are given for an unsteady flow of perfect gas in a plane channel of varying cross-section with a pylon on its bottom.
