The authors develop a technique for solving the Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured grids. A direct-action scheme is used to approximate the Navier-Stokes equations. The accuracy of the scheme is measured by an error functional, which is obtained by analyzing the Taylor series expansions of a finite-difference scheme and used to estimate the quality of unstructured grids. The set of finite-difference equations thus obtained is solved by Newton's method. Turbulent viscosity is simulated by invoking the Spalart-Allmaras model.
