This paper demonstrates explicitly that the problem of a hydrogen atom in orthogonal magnetic and electric fields has the nontrivial property of monodromy. The authors develop geometric techniques which allow the monodromy to be relevant for other problems involving the hydrogen atom in fields. The authors consider an integrable approximation. In addition the authors show that the monodromy is visible in the spectrum of the semi-classical quantization of the crossed fields problem.
