The authors consider the Schrödinger-Poisson system in two and and three space dimensions with or without an exchange-correlation potential. The one-dimensional system was addressed in \textit{H.-C. Kaiser} and \textit{J. Rehberg} [Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 50, 423-458 (1999; Zbl 0928.35030)]. They show that in the case without an exchange-correlation potential the Schrödinger-Poisson system admits the unique solution while with the exchange-correlation potential (i.e. the Kohn-Sham system) it admits always a solution which is unique under certain smallness assumptions on the data of the problem.
