In an earlier paper [J. Comput. Appl. Nath. 37, No. 1-3, 171-177 (1991; Zbl 0745.33002)] the author considered simple idealized current systems with rotational symmetry within the framework of hypergeometric functions. The discussion of the solenoid was not finished in that paper. The purpose of the present paper is to obtain an expression for the self-inductance in terms of hypergeometric functions of one and two variables.
