The author suggests a continuum model of the equilibrium of a liquid drop that has a contact with a solid based on the hypothesis of the existence of a finite resistance to displacements of the contact area of the drop and the body. The hysteresis phenomenon for the capillary contact angle is a consequence of the model. A numerical investigation of the hysteresis for a drop on a horizontal plane is performed.
