Approximating properties of the resolvent to a linear ordinary differential operator in the problem of uniform approximation to functions and their derivatives on an interval are analyzed. Cases of functions specified exactly and approximately are considered. Error estimates in a uniform metric are obtained. A relationship between the investigated method and Tikhonov regularization is elucidated.
