The paper is devoted to analysis of an initial-boundary value problem for the system of quasilinear equations describing one-dimensional adiabatic efflux of a viscous gas into vacuum. The density decays on the free boundary, and the efflux is counteracted by a body force. Theorems on the uniform (with respect to time) estimates for the solution and on its relaxation as \(t\to +\infty\) are proved. An estimate of the relaxation rate is also given.
