The author considers linear and nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations that contain a small parameter multiplying the highest order derivative on the semiaxis. A transition to a finite interval is performed, and the error arising from this transition is estimated. The uniform convergence of an upwind difference scheme for the reduced problem is substantiated.
