Nonlinear inverse problem for a higher-order parabolic equation (Q1571270)

The paper is devoted to the problem of the existence and uniqueness of a generalized solution to the inverse problem of determining the coefficient of the lowest term of a higher-order parabolic equation. Such problems often arise in mathematical physics in studying thermal and diffusion processes for the case when a part of the physical characteristics of the medium under study cannot be measured directly. In this case an overdetermination condition is set in the integral form. A local existence theorem and a global uniqueness theorem are proved for the solution to this problem.
