Based on the application of an asymptotic homogenization procedure, the authors develop a numerical method (finite elements) for the analysis of regularly constructed masonry walls consisting of linear elastic (case 1) or rigid (case 2) blocks and elastic mortar between them. The model according to case 2 is not only much simpler, but also numerically much more stable, at least in the stiffness domain relevant to practice. The numerical results are shown in diagrams.
