The main goal of this paper is to extend the utility of the Raychaudhuri equation from the analysis of geodesic congruences to the study of congruences of solutions to arbitrary second-order ordinary differential equations on manifolds. This generalization provides a tool for singularity analysis of congruences of solution curves.
