Local Poincaré section is a widely used tool in qualitative theory of dynamical systems, while questions on global Poincaré sections have not found much attention. The author investigates conditions and implications of the existence of global Poincaré sections on the phase space manifold. It is shown, that a compact smooth manifold with a flow allowing for a global Poincaré section is a suspension manifold that admits a \(S^1\)-base fiber bundle structure.
