The purpose is to illustrate the use of boundary element method for the evaluation of shear modulus for composites. The authors use the analogy between longitudinal shear loading and transverse heat conduction in unidirectional composites. The thickness of the contact zone is neglected but the effect is taken into account using an appropriate coefficient of interface. With this approximation the evaluation of shear modulus can be obtained by solving the problem on the boundaries of the two bodies only. The boundary element method is found to be a very efficient method for this purpose.
