This paper is concerned with an analytic study of the radiant and convective heat transfer to a pneumatically conveyed mixture of oil shale fines particles and air, including radial dependence on fluid temperature. It is shown that the limiting case of infinite dilution of particles results in a classical solution. Results are analyzed and compared with experimental data and other existing results; at moderate Reynolds numbers, the results of the present model are in agreement with the known results. The paper may be of interest to some-one working on physical and chemical processes involving heat transfer to a flowing mixture of fluid and particles.
