The authors give two numerical methods for solving equations for a steady ice-sheet axi-symmetric flow. The simpler, the so called Reduced Model is based on the assumption of the vertical velocity component being much smaller than the horizontal one. This model is applicable only for very small bed topography slopes. The other model is a general treatment of a free-boundary value problem in which the Navier-Stokes equations are solved by a finite element Galerkin discretisation method.
