On generalized plus-constructions of Eilenberg-Mac Lane spaces (Q1580367)

The author studies the effect of the plus construction \(P_E\), associated to a generalized homology theory \(E\), on abelian Eilenberg-MacLane spaces. He relies on work of Bousfield to accomplish this for the functors \(P_{E\mathbb{Z}/p}\) and \(P_{E\mathbb{Z}_{(p)}}\) associated to \(E\)-homology with coefficients in \(\mathbb{Z}/p\) and \(\mathbb{Z}_{(p)}\), for the various primes \(p\). Then he uses a local-global principle in the form of arithmetic squares to describe \(P_E\) itself.
