The authors consider a system consisting of a large number of coupled nonlinear oscillators under the presence of noise. Their analytical results establish a type of ``uncertainty principle'' stating that increasing the level of state synchronization, one decreases the level of frequency synchronization. This situation is compared with a model without noise where such uncertainty is absent.
