The main result of the paper is a necessary and sufficient group theoretic criterion for the existence of blocks of defect zero in a finite solvable group \(G\). The criterion is too technical to be presented here in detail. It involves the existence of a chain of subgroups of \(G\) with certain properties. Starting with a block of defect \(0\) in \(G\), the chain of subgroups is constructed using suitable character correspondences in solvable groups.
