Tangent sets in some functional spaces (Q1582406)

The authors give a characterization of the positive cone of a space of essentially bounded functions. As an application they deduce a characterization of the second-order tangent set in \(W^{1,\infty}\) of the set of functions whose norm of gradient is a.e. less or equal 1. The second-order tangent sets appear in a natural way in the second-order optimality conditions when minimizing a function over a given set.
