The authors prove that Lusztig's Frobenius map (for quantum groups at roots of unity) can be, after dualizing, viewed as a characteristic zero lift of the geometric Frobenius splitting of \(G/B\) (in char \(p>0\)) introduced by \textit{V. B. Mehta} and \textit{A. Ramanathan} [Ann. Math. (2) 122, 27-40 (1985; Zbl 0601.14043)].
