The authors discuss peristaltic transport of a non-Newtonian fluid. Specifically, they consider the so-called third-grade fluid, assuming that the Reynolds number is equal to zero, and employing the long-wave approximation. Depending on the parameters in the constitutive relation, the pumping rate may be greater or smaller than that for the Newtonian fluid.
