The authors present a solution to three-dimensional non-axisymmetric half-space problem for a two-component saturated material under vertical and horizontal surface forces. Applying Fourier expansion and Hankel transform to the equations of Biot's linear theory and taking into account both drained and undrained boundary conditions, the authors derive formal solutions (i.e., series expansions with coefficients in integral form) for the displacements. They also give a numerical example. The paper does not bring a new insight into applications of Biot's model.
