This paper is devoted to the intimate connection between the classical differential geometry of conjugate and orthogonal nets and the multicomponent Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy. Moreover, the author obtains a connection with the new discrete geometric theory of quadrilateral and circular lattices.
