An approach is presented for constructing algorithms designed to remove gaps between parametric nonuniform rational \(B\)-spline (NURBS) surfaces in the three-dimensional space, while maintaining geometrical smoothness for the combined surface. To demonstrate the approach idea a concrete effective algorithm is developed for bicubic NURBS with knot sequences being equally-spaced and having double interior points.
