This paper studies the mod \(p\) cohomology algebras of finite groups whose Sylow \(p\)-subgroups are extraspecial. The subject is approached from the viewpoint of modular representation theory with relatively projective modules playing a significant role, following on from work of \textit{T. Okuyama} and \textit{H. Sasaki} [Algebr. Represent. Theory (to appear)]. The particular case of \(\text{GL}(3,\mathbb{F}_p)\) is worked out in detail.
