This paper deals with the exponentially- and trigonometrically-fitted Runge-Kutta methods up to the fourth algebraic order. An embedded exponentially-fitted method for the integration of the Schrödinger equation and the related initial-value problems with periodic or oscillating solutions is developed. Numerical results show the efficiency of the new method.
