The edition of Gersonides's first book Ma'asel Ḥošeb [\textit{G. Lange}, Sefer Maasei Chosheb, Frankfurt a/M (1909)], ``praxis of computing'', did not include the problems appended to the book. By analyzing the material, the author shows that Ma'asel Ḥošeb exists in a first and a reworked edition. The first 15 problems are given here in a critical edition and English description and analysis. The remaining problems are promised in a future article. Since Gersonides is one of the worst Hebrew stylists, the text is not easy reading and the meaning not always clear. (The liṭra (``pound'') is an exact translation of livre \@ 20 sous \@ 12 deniers).
