This article is based on a series of lectures presented by the author during the 1999 annual meeting of the Mathematical Society of Taiwan held at Fu Jen Catholic University. In these lectures, the author attempts to present some aspects of the recent process in Hardy spaces and the applications of Hardy spaces to partial differential equations. Particularly, the author surveys some multiplier theorems and their applications to estimates for the wave equation in Hardy spaces. He also proves \(H^p\) boundedness for Calderón-Zygmund operators of type \(\sigma\) that can be regarded as a generalization of classical singular integral operators. Using these results, the author discusses some recent process in \(H^p\) regularity properties of the solving operators for hyperbolic equations. This paper and its references provide nice information for the reader who wants to know various connections among partial differential equations, \(H^p\) spaces and Calderón-Zygmund operators.
