The authors develop a design method for separable denominator multidimensional IIR filters based on a multivariate division algorithm. They propose an algorithm and consider the relations to the multivariate Walsh functions. As an alternative they apply also the Hilbert Nullstellensatz. Rich numerical material illustrates the theory.
