The author gives a complete topological description of the maximal ideal space \(M(H^\infty)\). The results generalize Hoffman's well-known theorems on the structure of the set of nontrivial Gleason parts of \(M (H^\infty)\). Based on the main construction, the extension problem for some uniform subalgebras of \(H^\infty\) is solved.
