The author reviews the dimensional reduction in a more geometrical way and gives a unified viewpoint of the moment maps in the cases of symplectic, hyper-Kähler, quaternion-Kähler and holomorphic contact manifolds. Under some additional conditions the Higgs fields can be regarded as moment maps in each case. Using this technique the author reduces standard instantons of several types in order to obtain a connection on the principal fibre bundle.
