For the Poisson equation on a hypercube the authors make a spectral analysis of the rate of convergence of the alternating-direction implicit method proposed by \textit{V. N. Abrashin} [Differ. Uravn. 35, No. 2, 212--224 (1999; Zbl 0936.65108)]. Their analysis provides the optimal value of the acceleration parameter.
