Composite mechanical materials offer a lot of interesting and difficult problems. Often getting an exact solution is not possible, so that approximate averaging methods are used. Here, the medium under consideration is a microperiodic layered elastic semi-space. Each cell contains two layers of different properties which are bonded in an ideal mechanical contact. The paper contains a revisited exposition, so that the previously known results are shortly presented. For this medium, which is highly dispersive, the Green's function is derived. The main result of the paper consists in showing that, for a particular choice of time and length units, the stress waves are independent of the layering period.
