The author proves that the eigenvalue problem for a Hermitian matrix \(A\) having an additional Hamiltonian structure is equivalent to the singular value problem for a (non-Hermitian) matrix of half the order. When a Hermitian matrix \(A\) is skew-Hamiltonian, the eigenvalue problem for \(A\) can be reduced to two Hermitian problems of half the order. Similar assertions on the reduction hold for a real symmetric case.
