In this paper the author considers a boundary value problem for an elliptic equation with a small coefficient \(\varepsilon\) at the highest order derivative. The reduced problem (with \(\varepsilon=0\)) contains ``saddle'' points at the domain boundary. Problems of this type arise in studies of the steady diffusion in Stokes flows around particles at high Peclet numbers. A complete asymptotic expansion of the solution in a narrow neighborhood of the boundary is obtained by the method of matched asymptotic expansions.
