For the equation \(c_nx_{n+1}+c_{n-1}x_{n-1}=b_nx_n,\) \(n\in \mathbb{N}\), with \(c_n+c_{n-1}>b_n>0\) when \(n\) is large conditions are given such that the solutions are oscillatory respectively nonoscillatory. In the case \(c_n=\text{const.}\) also the corresponding inhomogeneous equation is investigated.
