Production and detection of cosmic gravitational wave background in string cosmology (Q1610007)

In this paper the author describes the cosmic gravitational wave background predicted by models of string cosmology and presents numerical estimates for spectral parameters. The astrophysical and cosmological bounds on the spectrum's shape and strength are reviewed. It is shown that currently operating and planned large gravitational wave detectors could further constrain the spectrum and perhaps even detect it. The author discusses detection strategies and compares the efficiency of different types of detectors.
