The authors present the modeling of wheels within the framework of nonlinear flexible multibody systems. The elastic bodies are modeled using the finite element method, and holonomic and nonholonomic constraints among bodies are enforced via Lagrange multipliers. A unilateral contact problem is formulated in order to determine friction forces associated with rolling or sliding, and to determine the deformations of wheel tire. Some numerical examples are given.
