Recently, a new trigonometric method of summation was introduced by \textit{G. Das} and \textit{B. K. Ray} [Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 107, No. 4, 391-403 (1997; Zbl 0909.40003)]. In this paper the authors study the degree of approximation of functions of bounded variation by such a method of summation. The paper contains numerous of misprints.
