The authors present an efficient numerical method to solve the anti-plane problem of transient scalar wave propagation in a two-dimensional unbounded multi-layered soil. An artificial boundary is introduce to simulate the wave propagation in an unbounded elastic layer, and simultaneously the corresponding boundary conditions are derived. Numerical computations are made for a one-dimensional rod on the elastic foundation, as well as for two examples of homogeneous and inhomogeneous soil layers fixed on rigid rocks. The efficiency of the method is illustrated.
