Results on geometrically finite groups acting on hyperbolic spaces in the sense of Gromov obtained by \textit{A. Ranjbar-Motlag} in Differ. Geom. Appl. 6, No.~2, 169-180 (1996; Zbl 0845.53032) are generalized to Busemann spaces. It is shown that some results can be transfered but more often the theorems valid in hyperbolic spaces do not hold in Busemann spaces and must be replaced by more general propositions.
