In this interesting paper the authors propose and study an identification procedure of a third-order positive linear system in continuous time where the output of the experiments is a Poisson process. Important in this respect is a theorem describing necessary and sufficient conditions in order for a system to have a third-order positive realization. The proposed identification procedure leads to a far from trivial nonconvex optimization problem. The paper ends with some instructive simulation results.
