The paper deals with the commutativity of Banach algebras and Banach \(^*\)-algebras. Some sufficient conditions for the commutativity of an algebra are found in terms of derivations and commutators. Concerning the proofs, it seems that actually the proofs could also work for any (topological) \(^*\)-algebra, which is a Baire space and a prime or semiprime algebra, if needed.
