The authors prove the following theorem, which was previously known only under additional hypotheses, in full generality: For every infinite-dimensional Banach space there exists an equivalent norm such that the set of norm-attaining functionals for the new norm contains an infinite-dimensional linear subspace. The proof distinguishes the cases whether the space is quasi-reflexive or not.
