Motivated by the remark that the Christoffel dual of a tri-axial ellipsoid is the affine image of a Scherk tower [\textit{H. F. Scherk}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 13, 185--208 (1835; ERAM 013.0481cj)], the authors of the paper under review investigate similar problems for quadrics in Minkowski space. Moreover, in order to investigate time-like minimal surfaces, they introduce para-holomorphic elliptic functions, obtaining several useful results.
