A four-level compact finite difference scheme is presented for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with wave operator. The conservation, convergence and stability of the new scheme are demonstrated. Numerical tests are carried out to confirm the theoretical proof. In addition, the new scheme is compared with other schemes to show that this scheme is better.
