This paper is the second part of the authors' study of Beltrami's courses on mathematical physics (for Part I, see [Zbl 1354.01010]). They report that Beltrami, influenced by Clausius, tried to develop a theory along the lines of rational mechanics. He also gave some lectures on the kinetic theory of gases, but ideas from probability theory were never mentioned.
