Propagation of coupled polarized electromagnetic waves in a cylindrical waveguide filled with an inhomogeneous, nonlinear medium is studied. The linearity is given by Kerr's law. The problem is reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations on an interval. The problem is then further reduced to a system of integral equations. The existence of so-called coupled eigenvalues is proven. As a result of the authors' analysis, the existence of coupled TE-TM waves propagating in cylindrical waveguides (without attenuation) filled with an inhomogeneous medium is shown. Their result generalizes previous work for homogeneous dielectric waveguides and circular dielectric waveguides with a linear medium.
